Enrique has no issues with Neymar

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has stated that he has no problem with Neymar’s current lack of goals as he believes that the player is performing well on the pitch.

The last game against Espanyol has seen Neymar failing to score for the ninth game in a row.

His last goal came in the Champions League win over Manchester City at the end of October, and the Brazilian forward has failed to find the back of the net ever since.

However, the player has increased his number of assists during this period and has created 13 goals for his Barcelona team mates in this period. Luis Enrique said that football is a team sport and it is equally important for a player to create occasions. He said that Neymar has become a creative player and that as long as he is helping the team score goals, he is happy with him.

When asked why Neymar was not scoring as many goals as in the previous seasons, the Barcelona coach has suggested to reporters to take a look at his assists statistics. He said that the player has contributed more this season and that this is a sign that he is performing well on the pitch.

He believes that the player is motivated and that he is working hard for the team. He said that with players such as Suarez and Messi up front it is important that other players work for the team and create assists. He is happy with the way Neymar is performing and said that he believes that the player will find his goal scoring touch sooner rather than later.

Luis Enrique has also indicated that the Brazilian international will be given an extended Christmas break and that he will be missing the Copa Del Rey match against Hercules.
