Given their quality in the squad, Gremio were expected to be in with a shout to win the title. As it is, the club will fail to make it to the next round if the league finishes right now. Gremio are 10th in the table after having taken just six points from the opening five matches.

The club has lost some crucial players like Marcelo Moreno recently, and Oliveira reckons that this is starting to take a toll on the team. Aside from losing strikers, the club also does not have a strong complement of defenders. Scolari is expected to get the team playing with a back three formation for the next match against Passo Fundo in order to compensate for the lack of top-quality defenders.
