Botafogo are one a two-match winless run in the league after the 1-1 draw with Ceara last weekend. They are yet to win a game since the home victory over Athletico Paranensein a league game played towards the end of last month. They gave a good account of themselves during the game only to lose narrowly to Corinthians away from home. It must be pointed out that Corinthians are the second best team in the Brazilian top flight as they are six points adrift of league leaders Palmeiras ahead of the meeting of the the top two teams this weekend. An home win for Corinthians over Palmeiras will cut the gap to just three points at the top of the table.
