CAN FABINHO REPLACE EMRE CAN?

Champions League finalist Liverpool have confirmed the signature of Fabinho as replacement for the set to leave Emre Can. The German has refused to agree fresh terms at Anfield with increasing links to Juventus after both sides agreed a pre-contract in January.

The Brazilian midfielder cost the Reds £40 million to lure from Monaco. The 24-year old featured impressively in the past few seasons for the Ligue 1 side as they competed fiercely with Paris St Germain. He is expected to join other Brazilian stars that have gone on to become a success in the Reds jersey.

Roberto Firmino, who joined from Hoffenheim in 2015, has been a plus for Liverpool considering his impact and increase in market value. The forward can drop deep, play as a lone striker and contribute defensively. All these are testament of his versatility and how he has quickly developed in a short time. He combined very well with Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah to form one of the deadliest tridents that Europe has ever known.

Fabinho would also look to become one of the key players for the club with so much history. He has Philippe Coutinho to look up to. The current Barcelona star joined from Inter in 2013 and instantly became a top creator in Europe. The way he left might have tainted his exploits in the heart of Kopites but without a doubt he remains one of the best players of Liverpool in the last decade.

There are others like Lucas Leiva who played for a decade for Liverpool before leaving last year for Lazio. Former Botafogo man Doni joined in a free transfer to assist goalkeeper Pepe Reina but the Brazilian shot stopper had heart issues that cut short his career. Others like Fabio Aurelio and Diego Cavalierialso shone brightly for the club.
Liverpool will miss Can but they now have Fabinho to turn to in their bid to have a stronger and more creative midfield.
