Former AC Milan Star Apologises For Poor Botafogo Spell

Former Japan and AC Milan midfielder Keisuke Honda has tendered a heartfelt apology to the fans of the Brazilian club as a result of his failure to live up to the hype before sealing his move to the club last February.

Honda was given a hero’s welcome as he arrived in Brazil to complete the transfer with fans of Botafogo Football Club storming outside the club’s facility to witness the unveiling of their star recruit. However, things did not go quite according to plan as several factors surfaced and daunted his progress in the Brazilian Serie A.

Brazilian club Botafogo have suffered another league defeat after they were beaten in their trip to face Atletico Mineiro. Ahead of the game with Atletico Mineiro, Botafogo had lost their last three games in the Brazilian Serie A and they made it four successive defeats with the 2-1 loss to their opponents. Jefferson Savarino gave Atletico Mineiro the lead in the 17th minute and they were able to maintain that advantage until the end of the first half of the league game played at the Estadio Minerao in Belo Horizonte.

Brazilian striker Eduardo Sasha took just five second half minutes before doubling the tally for Atletico Mineiro.Botafogo defender Marcelo da ConceicaoBenevenutohalved the deficit for the visitors but the equalizer was elusive for him and his teammates until the end of the game. With the result, Atletico Mineiro made it three wins from the last five matches, while their guests Botafogo are without a win in their last four outings.

Botafogo Hold Corinthians

Brazilian club Botafogo and Corinthians played out a 2 goal a piece draw in the Brazil Serie a league encounter this weekend.

Like all sporting activities nowadays, this match too was held in front of an empty stadium. Playing at a fast and hectic pace, Corinthians opened the scoring in the tense encounter with Conserva Lemos Fagner finding the back of the net via a penalty kick. The referee penalized Botafogo following a foul on Fagner at top of the box in the 12th minute of the match. Marcelo Benevenutu was the culprit for the visitors.

Ex-Chelsea Player Obi Mikel Interested in Botafogo

John Obi Mikel, the former star footballer from Chelsea has weighed up interest towards Botafogo; the Brazilian side for Serie A football as he is still in search of a new club after his contract with Trabzonspor, the league side from Turkey, was terminated. In recent times, he is in talks with Botafogo but has not been confirmed and no information has been reported about his move. There are higher chances of him moving to the club from Rio de Janeiro. He has not been with any club since the termination from the Turkish side last month.

It is though the winner for Africa Cup of Nations 2013 confirmed that a line of communication has been made with the Serie A football club but has also expressed doubts about playing in Brazil. Botafogo has shifted their attention towards Obi Mikel after they missed out on another legend from Africa, Yaya Toure, the well-known midfielder from Manchester City. When asked about his move to Botafogo, he said that there have been a lot of talks and discussions with the club. He has expressed his interest and they have also told him about their expectations. Negotiations have also been going on between him and the club Botafogo. Time will tell what finally comes as the decision from John Obi Mikel.

Unlike Ronaldinho’s decision to move to Botafogo when he left AC Milan with the hopes of at least retiring in his homeland of Brazil, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has decided to tour the world and back at the age of 35.

The former Sweden international is making his first appearance after joining the former Italian giants and thanks to his prima donna effect, Milan defeated Cagliari 2-0 with Ibrahimovic netting the second goal with his weaker left foot thanks to an assist from Theo Hernandes.

Botafogo de Futebole Regatas or A Estrela Solitaria which is also known as the Lone Star is a spots club from Brazil that is based in Botafogo which comes in Rio de Janerio. Although they compete in numerous of different sports, the club is mostly known for it’s football team.Botafogo Football Club was founded on the 12th of August, 1904, earlier known as Electro Club, which was later merged with Club de Regetas Botafogo and because of it, Botafogo de Futebol e Regataswas into being.

Presently, Botafogo is headed by coachZe Ricardo with Anderson Barros being the football manager. The club consists of Rosters such as: Erik Lima, Alex Santana, Gatito Fernandez, Leonardo Valencia, Joel Carli, and others. The costume of the team consists of a black jersey with grey socks, black shorts and white stripes.
