Liverpool are reportedly interested in the signing of CSKA Moscow star Fedor Chalov according to reports from England.

It is reported that the Champions League holders have emerged as one of the clubs that are interested in signing the forward. The 21-year-old Russian international is regarded as one of the rising star in the Russian League and enjoyed a remarkable season at the club.

Chalov scored 15 goals last season to finish as the top scorer in the Russian League which has attracted attention from across Europe.

The likes of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, Monaco, and Tottenham have been linked with a move to the club.

Chalov is not expected to come cheap having signed new a new improved contract in January which runs until the summer of 2022. It is understood that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is in search of a backup striker after the departure of Daniel Sturridge this summer.

Chalov is seen as an ideal forward who has the ability to thrive within the high tempo brand of football utilized by the German tactician. The player is valued at £20 million by the Russian outfit, which is an affordable fee for the Anfield outfit.

Unlike the other major clubs, Liverpool are yet to make a major move in the transfer window and Chalov could be the first signing of the season if he makes the move.

The Reds have also been linked with a surprise move for Botafogo forward Luiz Fernando according to reports from Brazil. It is understood that the 22 year old is seem as a cheap signing and could be loaned to a Championship side.

Ivorian forward Nicolas Pepe has been touted by reports but his asking price of £70 million is a major turning off. The Reds are certainly not short of cash after winning the Champions League trophy last season.
